Hyatt Regency Long Beach — Five Nights with a Child, and How It Compares to the Westin

We paid for this stay ourselves.

The Westin was good too, but for the pool and the view, the Hyatt Regency was in a different league.

Basics

Room

The room was big, clean and comfortable, with a partial ocean view toward Long Beach.

We booked for two adults, and staying with our child was no problem.

Pool and fire pit

The pool was fantastic. There's a fire pit by the pool, so we roasted marshmallows and made s'mores — my child's favorite part.

Parking

Hotel parking was very expensive, so we parked at the nearby LAZ Parking – The Pike Garage.

Location

Easy access to the beach, and it's practically attached to the Long Beach Convention Center.

Compared with the Westin Long Beach

We spent our first night at the Westin Long Beach, which was good too — but the Hyatt Regency won by far on the pool and the view.

Bottom line

Nothing really to complain about. If you're spending a few days in Long Beach with kids, I'd recommend it.
